The Moscow Mule is a mug, and a drink. Made with vodka, ginger beer and lime juice, garnished with a slice or wedge of lime, the Moscow Mule is named for the primary ingredient: vodka. It was born in California in 1941 and later became popular during the 1950’s vodka craze in the US, then went on to become a favorite among celebrities and Las Vegas clubs in the following decade. At the time of its creation the Moscow Mule was served in a custom copper mug, which became a core part of the drink’s ingredients. Since that time the mug and the drink have become synonymous.
